October is the beginning of the fall season and when we at Cascade Elementary School begin collecting can good items. At our school each year, we give back to the community by having a can good drive.

Last year we collected over 500 canned good items and donated baskets to 12 needy families in our community. Also, a large number of the can good items went to Hosea Williams Feed the Hungry Project.

This year we will continue with our tradition of collecting can good items and other items that would make for a Traditional Holiday Dinner. The items will be collected on October 20th - November 20th, 2003.

Each individual class that participates in this activity will be responsible for decorating a gift basket or box. The class that has the most creative basket and the most items in it will be treated to a Pizza Party on November 21, 2003.

Also, if you know the name of a needy family that would benefit from receiving a basket, let Mrs. Pickney know by submitting their name and address to the office by November 10, 2003.
