OTHER NEWS...

Dear Fickett Family and Friends,

R.N. Fickett Elementary School has embarked on a mission of academic excellence. Each administrator, educator and staff member has accepted the challenges and rigors of teaching our future- our children.

Our vision and goals have been set by the new leadership of R.N. Fickett Elementary School. Mr. Anthony Dorsey has a mission of excellence where student achievement is our top priority.

If you have not had the experience of visiting our school, we welcome you with open arms. Come and see the changes and improvements we’ve made thus far. Upon entrance, you will see the major changes in our wonderful school. You’ll experience seeing our dedicated educators rigorously working with our students, parents volunteering in our “Parent Room” and UPS scholars from colleges tutoring.

We are pleased with those whom have become active members of the PTA. his is an excellent avenue to learn and become more involved in our school. Meetings are held monthly and welcomes participation from the entire school community.

With all of the technological advancements in the world, we feel that R.N. Fickett should also be in the forefront of the technology movement. We now have two Technology Centers that enhance our children. Our Technology Center is also available to our parents and the community. We have gone a step further with technology integration and provided a laptop for all our staff. This will allow our teachers to use the new electronic gradebook, Integrade Pro at school and at home.

We have also been privileged to have several business partners/sponsors for our school. General Electric has funded a program entitled: “Creating Pride”, which initiates creativity in the classroom through art making. Other school sponsors include, HOPE Worldwide, UPS and Hands on Atlanta.

We are also excited to announce that we have changed our School Reform Model to Direct Instruction. This model will allow for greater improvements in the area of Reading for every student.

Again, we thank you for your continued support and cooperation as we transition from Good to Great.

Educationally yours,

Mr. Anthony Dorsey
