Any teachers wishing to use any materials are welcomed to sign up for media time and use the materials in the Media Center. Students are also welcome to read their books in the Media Center. Anyone who has lost or damaged any materials will have to reimburse the Media Center for those items.

SIRS Discoverer with WebFind – is used to find magazine and newspaper articles, biographies, country facts, pictures, and WebFind for helpful web sites.

Searchasaurus – is used for magazine and newspaper articles, an encyclopedia, and an Encyclopedia on animals.

Britannica Elementary – is the elementary version of Encyclopedia Britannica. It has encyclopedia articles with maps and pictures, a guide to web sites, and a student dictionary and thesaurus.

Kids InfoBits – is used to find magazine articles, state and country information, pictures, and maps.

Digital Library of Georgia – explores Georgia history in books, letters, photographs, and more.

FirstGov for Kids – has web site links to some of the best kids’ sites from the United States and other places.

The mission of John Hope Elementary Media Center is to promote a supportive, effective, and stimulating learning environment. It will provide learners access to various forms of information, in print and electronic format. The function will be to work collaboratively with the administration and teachers to assist them in achieving their instructional goals. This will enable students to achieve higher levels of literacy, problem-solving, technological, and information retrieval skills. The primary objective is to help encourage an enjoyment of reading, and develop independent, lifelong learners.
