| "Bee" All That
You Can "Bee" - A Kimberly Stinger
There are many ways to be successful at Kimberly Elementary School. We
have many after-school clubs that will help you to "bee" your
Kimberly Stinger best. Here are just a few.
Stinger Academy is our after school tutorial
program. Every Wednesday and Thursday, students can remain after school
and receive extra support from their teachers.
Stinger Plus is an after-school program
for students in grades 3-5. Stinger Plus students receive extra assistance
from the teachers in grades K-2. Our teachers are really dedicated to
the success of all Kimberly Stingers. Did you know that every child in
Stinger Plus passed the CRCT?!
Lionheart is a mentoring program for our
male singers. Lionheart offers engaging after school sessions, academic
coaching, mentoring and mentorship training. Lionheart also offers other
exciting and challenging activities that include field trips, ropes courses,
community presentations, etc. Lionheart meets on Wednesdays.
Emmanuel Lutheran Tutorial is offered to
our third graders every Saturday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, one of our
community partners. The community also cares about Kimberly students.
This is the third year the Emmanuel Lutheran has tutored our students.
Every student who attended Emmanuel tutoring passed the CRCT.
Student Council is Kimberly's very own student
government. The members of student council are elected by their peers.
Our student council officers serve for one school year.
K-Kids! You might think that it stands for
Kimberly Kids but it is actually a youth organization sponsored by the
Greenbriar Chapter of Kiwanis. K-Kids is a community based youth leadership
organization. In past years Kimberly's K-Kids have won numerous awards
for scrapbooks, fundraising and essay contests. Those K-Kids are really
on the move! Watch out!
Unity Network Counseling Center (UNCC) otherwise
known as our after school program. UNCC operates every day from 3:00 pm
until 6:00 pm. The students start their after school experience with a
snack everyday. UNCC offers educational advancements such as Homework
Help and Computer Lab. Enrichment activities such as Chess, Dance and
Physical Education are also offered to students. On Fridays, the students
have "Fun Friday", they play games and have a good ol' time!
There is a charge for UNCC after-school.
A Big THANK YOU goes to Payless Shoe Source
A big THANK YOU to our sponsor! Payless Shoe Source has been a business
partner of Kimberly Elementary School for many years. Each year, Payless
donates funds to the school. Mr. Dewayne Davis, the district manager,
presented a check to Mrs. Hall and a group of students. Our Kimberly students
made presentations of the work that they are currently working on in class.
The funds enable us to purchase student recognition incentives for attendance,
academics and citizenship.
Principal for a Day
On Tuesday, October 28, 2008, Kimberly Participated in Principal for
a Day. Pastor Marvin Moss from Cascade United Methodist Church served
as our principal. He observed classes throughout the school and had an
opportunity to meet with the teachers during planning time. The day ended
with a luncheon at The Omni.

Awards.
The Superintendent's Distinguished Achievement Awards are based on the
performance of students on the Criterion-Referenced Competency Tests (CRCT's).
L.O. Kimberly won CRCT achievement awards for improved fourth grade reading.
We were one of the 10 schools with the greatest gains in the percentage
of students in the meets and exceeds scoring levels.
L.O. Kimberly achieved Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for the sixth consecutive
year. In addition, Kimberly Faculty and Staff will receive recognition
at the Superintendent's Convocation on October 6, 2008 for achieving 70%

Academic
and Attendance Incentives
Students who earn straight A's in all core subjects will
receive the coveted Principal's Award
at the end of each semester. This award will be presented in January and
in May. A special trophy will be given to students who earn the Principal's
Award for both semesters. Students who earn all A's and B's earn placement
on Kimberly's Honor Roll.
To earn the Principal's Award
and Honor Roll recognition,
students must be on grade level. At the end of the year students who did
not earn these awards can work to be recognized in individual content
areas like Math, Reading, Social Studies, Science, Art, Physical Education
and Music.
Student, it is very important that you begin NOW
to earn excellent grades. All grades that you receive from the first day
of school are averaged into your final grade for the semester.
Special recognition will be given to all students who have
perfect attendance for each semester. Remember that being tardy will hinder
you from getting your rewards. We will honor one student from each class
every week as Student of the Week.
To be selected Student of the Week,
you must:
Be present, be punctual and be prepared for class every
day. Complete all daily tasks, homework and projects assigned by your
teacher. Show respect for fellow classmates and adults.
We look forward to everyone striving to be recognized
as one of Kimberly's finest!
