Major Course Offerings

Band (Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced) – Provides opportunities to develop performance skills on a wind or percussion instrument; emphasizes performance and production, analysis and theoretical issues, historical and cultural contributions, creative aspects and appreciation of music.

Broadcasting and Video Production (I, II, III, IV, V) – Integrates recent trends in the study of mass communications through problem solving activities, projects and discussions; develop skills in basic theory, practice, and operations of a television studio, and videotape editing.

Dramatic Arts (I, II, III, IV, V) – Explores the style and characteristic elements of modern theater; enhances skills by producing and studying literature and provides opportunities for performance.

Journalism (I, II, III, IV, V) – Explores journalistic writing through analysis of newspapers, yearbooks, literary magazines and broadcast journalism publications; concentrates on purpose, influence, structure, and language through reading, writing and critical thinking.

Keyboarding (Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced) – Explores piano keyboard techniques; covers performance and production, analysis and theoretical issues, historical and cultural contributions, creative aspects and appreciation of music.

Mixed Chorus (Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced) – Provides opportunities to develop performance skills and knowledge in mixed choral singing; covers performance and production, analysis and theoretical issues, historical and cultural contributions, creative aspects and appreciation of music.

Modern Dance (I, II and III) – Covers shape, form, line and experimentation with individual expression and creativity; stresses aesthetic perception, creative expression and performance.

Visual Arts (I, II, III, IV, V) – Introduces art history through art works from antiquity to present, explores a variety of drawing techniques and media; emphasizes art history, art criticism, aesthetic judgment and studio production.
