Multimedia Presentations & Communication Technology
This course provides the student with a basic foundation for further study in computer graphics. The instructional activities allow students to explore the following: current computer skills needed in business and basic computer applications; and instruction in the following business oriented software: word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentations, graphics and fundamentals of telecommunications.
Computer Applications
Students in this course become proficient in word processing, database, spreadsheet, publishing, and presentation software. Students must demonstrate mastery in basic word processing functions and concepts and designing and creating spreadsheets and presentations in accordance with written and/or oral specifications.
Business Data Applications
This course is designed to give students advanced hands-on instruction in word processing, spreadsheet, database management, telecommunications and electronic publishing. Emphasis will be placed on work-related competencies such as working in a collaborative environment, communication skills, technical skills, project management, research, project design, and evaluation, and management of resources.
Information Systems Management
This course is designed to help students develop a basic knowledge of information systems theory as well as skills in information systems administration and management and information system analysis and design. Students learn how to develop, implement and plan for an information system that meets the needs of business.
Programming/Operating Systems Management
Students in this course learn basic programming concepts, applied programming languages, software development, and database administration. In-depth understanding of the components of computer systems and how operating system software manages the operation of those components are developed. The course includes hardware design, operation, and maintenance; operation systems; basic mainframe concepts; software system management; and system administration and control.
AP Computer Science
Students in this course learn general computer science concepts, how to create and run Java programs, and advanced features of object oriented programming. This course is taught from an online program modeled after an actual college course.
Web Page Design
Students develop skills in maintaining security requirements of operating systems, system installation and maintenance, and computer user support including PC hardware repair.
Operating Systems and Management
Students develop an in-depth understanding of the components of computer systems and how operating system software manages the operation of those components. It includes hardware design, operation, and maintenance; operating systems; software systems management; and system administration and control. Students must demonstrate knowledge of computer system architecture, hardware standards, and connectivity devices.
Networking
Students develop the skills necessary for the planning, installation, and management of networks that enable computers to communicate both locally and globally. It includes networking essentials, architectures, operating systems, wide area networks, and network management.
