The First Grade Team is very excited to be selected to showcase their Science Unit at the School Reform Team 4 District. We have been exploring weather through experiments, using the internet for the weather forecast, researching and reading information about the weather. The first graders have expressed their knowledge and understanding about the weather by writing, making weather instruments, using iPods to explore about different types of weather; science projects and video-taping weather reports. Also, students have become meteorologists, and reporters of the weather.

In addition, students are preparing for the Science Fair. Students will research which fabric is water repellent.
Students are learning about their state. They are learning how to read a map and how to read a compass. The students are being challenged in locating the city and state on a map; as well as their continent on a globe.
Quick First Grade Note
It is important that students are present and on time DAILY. Fridays are especially important, because that is when weekly assessments are given.
