The Kinder (garten) Scene

The Kindergarten level has had a great first quarter. We have recently completed our benchmark test for mid-semester in Reading/Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies. Students exhibited excellent mastery of Language print concepts and number sense. They have enjoyed hands on activites such as creating daytime and nighttime sky boxes; drawings to express ideas on follwoing rules and helping to stop the spread of germs.

Our trip to Cagles Farm highlighted our study of the Fall Season. Students were given an opportunity to get up close in their interactions with the changes in the environment and farm activites during this time of year. The hayride was "the bomb"!!! We had fun cheering for Wilbur in the Pig's Race.

Students were able to make the connection of the interdependence of the farm, community and their daily life. In the upcomming quarter we will be making our way to the Center for Puppetry Arts and we are eagerly anticipating a great second quarter of learning and fun. In closing, we would like to remind you - the teachers, students and parents - to work hard, helping the students to blossom into active, independent life-long learners.
