Dear Parents,
Next week, February is over! We have already passed 100 days of school and we are less than 60 days from the CRCT! Please help your child prepare for the CRCT by reading nightly and asking questions. Talking to your child increases his/her cimprehension as well as vocabulary.
The website is finally up and running! As always you are able to reacy me by email, but now you can find the weekly newsletter and homework logs online as well. Go to http://www.apskids.org/towns/mshayesclass.htm.
The nightly writing assignments have not been going well. Please ensure that your child completes this assignment as part of their grade. Incomplete or undone assignments will result in a grade of "0."
Reminders: Sign and monitor student behavior log nightly. Students will log their individual assignment grades weekly. Students must come to class with supplies (pencils, erasers, paper, binder, etc.)
As always, the following supplies are always greatly needed and appreciate in our room: hand sanitizer, facial tissue, pencils, healthy snacks (students enjoy Cheerios, marshmallows, popcorn, pretzels, etc.). Thank you for your donations thus far. I have 14 students, so please make sure that you send enough for all students.
February 28 - 2nd grade field trip
February 29 - Leap Day (It only happens once every four years!) + Black History Program
Next week's writing assignment will be silly.
Monday - Prewrite for homework (use the graphic organizer that I included)
Tuesday - Brainstorm
Wednesday - Draft
Thursday - Edited Draft
Friday - Students will type their writing to be published

Dear Parents,
This week brings us into February. As you know, February is Black History Month and it is time to celebrate the wonderful accomplishments of African-Americans in this country. Please be sure to talk to your child about the importance of this month and why we celebrate it in February. For more information on Black History Month, click here
